Obituary of Lahmon Paul Stanley

Please share a memory of Lahmon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Stanley Paul Lahmon was born December 21, 1947, in Fairfield, California, to Paul and Lois (Ellie) Lahmon. The family was later joined by Ronald and Daniel. On Sunday, December 29, 2024, Stan passed peacefully at the home of his granddaughter, Emily Phillips.

Stan’s entire childhood was spent in the Fairfield area, where he attended Armijo High School, graduating in 1966. In his senior year of high school, Stan served as class president.  He was (according to the writings in his yearbook) pretty darn good at chemistry, kind of a jokester, and had plans to live in Nevada after graduation.  But plans changed as the Vietnam Conflict raged, and in January 1967, Stan joined the military service, serving in the United States Army until 1969. While in Vietnam, he met his lifelong friends and brothers by choice, Joe and Paul. The three proudly served in the 361st Aviation Company (the Pink Panthers).  It was that friendship that eventually brought Stan to Hamburg, Iowa, where he lived for about 10 years.  At this point, he returned to California to help work on his parent’s horse ranch.  Not long after, he returned to the Midwest and settled in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he worked for many years at the Good Year plant.  Around 2001, Stan once again moved to California, working many years for Direct TV and helping care for his aging parents. For a short time, Stan was finally able to live in Nevada. Once back in California, he was able to live out another lifelong dream of buying a houseboat and living on the water. In August 2023, Stan returned to Iowa, living near Blanchard with his granddaughter, Emily, and her family. This was the last venture of his nomadic ways.

Stan leaves behind his six children, Shelly Welch, Mike Lahmon, Chris Lahmon (Nikki), Josh Lahmon (Carly), Tanner Lahmon, and Austin Lahmon (Bri). These children blessed him with 11 grandchildren: Tiffany (Rick), Russell (Katie), Aaron, Samantha (Michael), Emily (BJ), Katelynn, Kali, Mia, Lillian, Blayklee, and Hadleigh. Stan also had 17 great-grandchildren, Lilly (Jeremy), Ravyn (Talia), Isaac, Hailey (Baiyden), Trinity (Jose), Kadyn, Deven, Aiyana, Ashton, Laeton, Kyler, Nathaniel, Jude, Grey, Archer, and Revely, and one great-great-granddaughter, Bella.  Stan is also survived by his brothers Ron (Sharon) and Danny, Uncle Ernie (Doris), nieces Jodi, Tina and Amanda, and nephew Ronnie, many cousins and friends.

Stan is preceded in passing by his parents, Paul and Ellie, his dear friend, Joe Kirk, and his son-in-law, Russ Welch.
